The Sounds of the Soul Poetry Slam was created with the intention of raising awareness for poetry in the suburban areas of Detroit. The Poetry Slam provides youth from the community the opportunity to display their own unique forms of poetry. Due to the remarkable outcome we received last year, our poets will be performing on the astonishing stage of the Royal Oak Music Theatre where in addition to the powerful poetry being performed, dinner, an exclusive bar and a DJ are all included. All proceeds benefit Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids.
