Dapper attorney Norman Yatooma's Foundation for the Kids hosted its fifth Champions for the Kids dinner at Birmingham's Townsend Hotel Sunday. Hearing the stories about children who've lost a parent left guests (including us) sad and teary-eyed. But we got a good chuckle when the evening's emcee, WJR morning host Paul W . Smith , thanked the Townsend staff "for always doing such a wonderful job." Ah, but seconds earlier he was sternly chiding the Townsend parking valets. Apparently a year ago, while Smith was lunching "with Brooks," his then brand-new Mercedes with less than a thousand miles on it was smashed on one side. "So here I am again with another brand-new Mercedes with less than a thousand miles, handing my keys over to you guys," Smith scolded. "Please don't let anything happen this time!"
